Getting Ready!

After several months of preparation on the desk, our team is getting ready now on the field setting up the protection campaign for the Loggerhead turtle, a globally identified endangered species that nest on the island during the months of June through October. Two campsites are been set up in main nesting zone of the island and the main poaching area respectively, and will be the base for our patrollers. Also, a hatchery has been built to host threatened nests that can’t be left on their original beaches. Our staff is composed by local rangers, field biologists and volunteers that work tirelessly during this time to ensure that these animals are protected from poachers and other human-driven threats, who unfortunately still pose a significant threat to the survival of this species on the island and throughout Cabo Verde.
