TUI Turtle Aid Programme

The TUl Turtle Aid programme protects endangered and vulnerable sea turtles, especially around nesting beaches. By working with local NGOs and beachfront tourism businesses, it also engages tourists by teaching them about turtles and how to protect them. Together with local conservation initiatives such as Project Biodiversity, the TUI Turtle Aid programme is working towards a more sustainable and turtle-friendly Cabo Verde.

On Sal Island TUI Turtle Aid Cape Verde protects sea turtles through supporting monitoring, relocation, tourism education and community engagement.

Nesting sites are protected by patrols and drones monitoring the beaches, helping to deter and prevent turtle poaching and capturing vital information to keep the turtles and their nests safe.
